Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Before They Were Authors) for Friday, September 30, 2022 (Season 39, Game 15):
While working for British intelligence during World War II, he was codenamed 17F
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Cris Pannullo, a customer success operations manager from Ocean City, New Jersey
Pam Warren, a high school science teacher from Petersburg, Illinois
David Sibley, an Episcopal priest from Walla Walla, Washington (4-day total: $78,098)
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
We’ve reached the end of the third week on Jeopardy!, and David Sibley looks to run the week! His strength has definitely been the signaling device; there have been games where David seemingly could signal at will!
Today, our challengers are another contestant (the third of this week) from the Land of Oz (New Jersey) in Cris Pannullo and Illinois high school science teacher Pam Warren.
In case you haven’t watched it yet, the video footage from the first-ever Jeopardy! Honors event was shared on Jeopardy!’s YouTube channel last night. You definitely should watch if you haven’t yet!
Also, in general site housekeeping news: Starting Monday, I’ll be putting this post up later in the day—I’m noticing my content being stolen again, and while I don’t think that it will end the theft completely, I do at least want to disrupt the routine of the content thieves.
Finally: Remember to watch Celebrity Jeopardy!, on ABC at 8:00 PM Eastern (7:00 PM Central) on Sunday night! This week’s game is between Eddie Huang, a celebrity chef whose autobiography Fresh off the Boat was adapted into the TV series of the same name, Reggie Watts, a comedian and musician who also leads the house band for The Late Late Show with James Corden, and Iliza Shlesinger, a comedian who has won NBC’s Last Comic Standing and who stars in Netflix’s Good on Paper. (And, once again, these are very much celebrities—the fact that you as a viewer may not have heard of one or two of them is not the show’s problem.)
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they can, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2022 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)
Ian Fleming is best known today as an author; his most famous works include Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as well as the James Bond novels, which inspired the multi-billion-dollar film franchise. Fleming relied on his personal experiences in the Naval Intelligence Division in World War II in order to write the Bond novels. Interestingly, the name Goldeneye—which inspired the name of the famous 1995 film in the Bond series—gets its name from Fleming’s home in Jamaica, which, in turn, got its name from the Operation Goldeneye intelligence campaign in Spain that Fleming spent most of his time on during the war.
