Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category World Capital Sightseeing) for Tuesday, July 17, 2018 (Season 34, Episode 222):
The unfinished Victory Over America Palace & the rundown Victory Over Iran Palace are in this city
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s contestants:
Ryan Fenster, a student from SeaTac, Washington (4-day total: $90,198)
Bunny Miller, a retired operations manager from Huntington Station, New York
Michelle Cabral, an elementary school music teacher from Toronto, Ontario, Canada (3-day total: $46,693)
(At current exchange rates, $46,693 USD equals approximately $61,345 Canadian.)
Both Michelle and Ryan are on our ToC Tracker; see where they find themselves here!
Ryan was brought back because the judges reversed themselves on a ruling of “schism” vs. “Great Schism” in the February 2 game. He attempts to accomplish the rare feat of having an interrupted 5-win run on the show. Others who have done so in the past include Bob Mesko in 2006 and Tom Nichols in 1994.
If you’re Canadian and are hoping to be able to watch Michelle’s game online, you’re in luck! Jeopardy! streams online in Canada! You can watch it online at 7:30 PM Eastern (Ontario feed) or 9:30 PM Eastern (Alberta feed)!
On the most recent episode of #JeopardyLivePanel, I interviewed Ali Hasan! Check out the interview here (or on Apple Podcasts!).
Correct response: What is Baghdad, Iraq?

More information about Final Jeopardy:
The two palaces in Baghdad mentioned above are so close to each other that they are often confused for each other! Saddam Hussein built the Victory of America Palace to commemorate a “victory” in the 1991 Gulf War over the United States; it was never completed as construction was held back by economic sanctions. After the 2003 invasion, the site was integrated into Camp Slayer before being handed back to Iraq in 2011. Victory over Iran Palace, built to commemorate the 1980-1988 war with Iran, sits nearby and is equally run-down at this point.
