Correct response: Who is George McClellan?
More information about Final Jeopardy:
Abraham Lincoln, growing frustrated with Gen. McClellan’s reluctance to pursue and fight the Confederacy after the Battle of Antietam, went to visit McClellan at the site. He wrote of the October 3, 1862 meeting to his wife Mary: “We are about to be photographed if we can sit still long enough. I feel Gen. M. should have no problem”. When McClellan claimed his horses were too tired to move later that month, Lincoln telegraphed back “Will you pardon me for asking what the horses of your army have done since the battle of Antietam that fatigue anything?” As it turned out, McClellan was less than thrilled with the Emancipation Proclamation of Lincoln and McClellan was removed from his post in charge of the Army of the Potomac on November 5 of that year. McClellan later ran for President against Lincoln in the 1864 election but was soundly defeated.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- While the Final Jeopardy! betting looked sloppy on its surface, in actual fact, I really only take issue with Sarah’s bet. Her overbet in Final Jeopardy! could have given Lauren an extra path to victory that she might otherwise not have had. Had Sarah bet the normal cover bet of $5,201, she falls to $9,199, causing Lauren to require a correct response in Final Jeopardy! in order to win. Because Lauren has occasion to bet everything, it means that Matt’s best course of action is to also bet everything (or close to it), as he can’t both cover Lauren and win a Double Stumper with Sarah.
