A scant five months before Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, Edwin Booth arranged for a one-night production of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. Edwin played Brutus, Junius Booth played Cassius, and John Wilkes Booth portrayed Marc Antony. Edwin decided that the performance would be a benefit for the statue of Shakespeare that still stands in Central Park, and didn’t pay his brothers at all for their performances. Five months later, John Wilkes Booth did “what Brutus was honored for” when he assassinated the President; the assassin was a Confederate supporter who had been kicked out of his brother Edwin’s New York apartment for expressing support for Confederate-set fires that had beset New York City the night of the performance—fires that had interrupted the performance of Julius Caesar.

Mattea started well, going 3/5 in FROM BOOK TO MOVIE…, but was shut out in both college football and “A.T.”; Becky held a small lead after 15 clues. Coming out of the break, Mattea found the Daily Double and doubled up! It was a good thing she did, too—she only got 7 clues correct in the round, but still held a $2,200 lead over Adam.
