It’s Semifinal Monday at the 2021 Tournament of Champions! Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category 20th Century Artwork) for Monday, May 24, 2021 (Season 37, Game 171):

The artist’s wife described the scene of this 1942 painting as “Brilliant interior of cheap restaurant”

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s contestants:

Ryan Hemmel, a legal technology professional from Los Angeles, California

Ryan Hemmel on Jeopardy!

Karen Farrell, a political consultant from Chesapeake, Virginia

Karen Farrell on Jeopardy!

Sam Kavanaugh, a teacher originally from Carlton, Minnesota

Sam Kavanaugh on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Of the three semifinals, this is probably the most evenly-matched three-way match of the round. All 3 players have a good chance of winning, per the prediction model; this game will definitely come down to who can best convert the four big clues. I’d almost put this match in the “too close to call” box.

PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to. When wearing a mask, ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.
