Sarah Childress Polk, the wife of President James K. Polk, was a devout Presbyterian; during her husband’s term of office, while she was very social herself, banned dancing, card games, and hard liquor at official White House receptions. (Though contemporary reports do say that wine was still served.)

  • Today’s box score will be linked to when posted by the show.

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Joey $18,200 Rachel $9,400 Chris $8,000)

Rachel: To have any chance of victory, you need to bet at least $8,201. (Actual bet: $9,399)

Joey: Standard cover bet over Rachel is $601. Because a lot of second-place players over the years have underbet this situation, you should not bet more than this. (Actual bet: $703)

Chris: You can’t win unless Joey overbets. Thus, bet between $2,801 and $6,799 for the best chance of second place. (Actual bet: $7,999)
