The Hunchback of Notre-Dame is Victor Hugo’s famous 1831 novel about Quasimodo, Notre Dame’s bell-ringer, that served to turn the Paris cathedral into a national French icon. The quote from today’s clue comes from Chapter III of the work, whose full text is available at the Gutenberg Project.

I am also pleased that the New York Times Clue of the Day, while it failed to be available online, is still available in the physical edition of the newspaper, and thus, has been published publicly.

Tim and Katherine barely got in, and the three unplayed clues certainly felt like an act of mercy by the timekeeper (though, to be fair, the Ralph Macchio category in the opening round was a little on the long side as well). The scores going into Final were Luigi at $38,400, Tim at $5,200, and Katherine at $1,400.
