Bryce Wargin enters today’s game as a 3-day champion facing off against Mary Walheim and Alfred Wallace; it’s an important one for Bryce’s Tournament of Champions chances, as he only has a 57.28% chance of qualifying for the Tournament of Champions at the moment. The US version is also the only game airing today; the UK version is being preempted by Grand National coverage and returns on Monday.

One thing that I’ve found when seeing viewer reactions over the years to Jeopardy! games is that I believe that casual viewers overestimate the victory chances of trailing players going into Final Jeopardy when the game is not quite a runaway, especially when compared to a player’s chances of winning when leading. A player, when trailing in second place in a crush position, has a shade under 20% chance of victory. When leading, those chances are north of 60%. (It’s higher than the straight get rate for the leader in Final Jeopardy because second place overbets Final to the point that the leader is often handed victory.) So, yes, even though an incorrect response will often turn a game into a runaway, it’s still the best choice strategically—especially because Daily Doubles do tend to be easier than Final Jeopardy.

In the famous Broadway musical and 2024 film Wicked, Boq is a Munchkin with unrequited love for Glinda, who was turned into the Tin Woodsman from the Wizard of Oz universe.

This definitely needs to be approached with knowledge of Wicked; approaching this with just knowledge of L. Frank Baum will likely end up in frustration today, in my opinion. (And, because people apparently care these days about such minutia—no, I can not count myself among the people who got today’s Final Jeopardy correct, as I have not seen Wicked.)
