Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Countries of Europe) for Thursday, July 28, 2022 (Season 38, Game 229):

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Katrina Hill, a non-profit professional from Alexandria, Virginia

Katrina Hill on Jeopardy!

Heidi Reese, a patent examiner originally from Bay City, Michigan

Heidi Reese on Jeopardy!

Brianne Barker, a biology professor from Madison, New Jersey (1-day total: $11,700)

Brianne Barker on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

As we move in the penultimate game of the 38th season of Jeopardy!, Brianne Barker became champion yesterday after a very savvy wager in Final Jeopardy. Today, she faces Heidi Reese and Katrina Hill.

For those fans who have been paying attention to their TV listings: Per the Xfinity listings that some fans have researched, the first three weeks of encore presentations have been announced. It appears as though we are definitely seeing “Highlights of the Season” as our rerun schedule this season.

On a more personal note: For the past two and a half years, I have often raised money for the MS Society of Canada through their “Gamers vs. MS” program. This July, Gamers vs. MS is running a month-long fundraising campaign called “Boss Battles.” In an attempt to raise $25,000, the Gamers vs. MS team has designed a “fundraising adventure” to defeat eight evil bosses. (Much like a Mario game might have eight bosses to defeat.) You can get more information about the program at https://www.gamersvsms.ca/bossbattles, and if you’d like to donate, you can do so via Tiltify!

PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they can, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

More Information About Final Jeopardy:

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2022 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Andorra is a microstate in the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain; a number of buffer states were created in the area by Charlemagne c. 800 in order to protect France from Moorish Spain; of those states, Andorra is the only one not to have been reintegrated into either of the present-day countries. According to tradition, Charlemagne granted Andorra a charter in exchange for fighting the Moors; Charles the Bald (Charlemagne’s grandson) named the Count of Urgell as overlord of Andorra. Today, the country is co-administered by the Bishop of Urgell in Spain and the President of France.
