Today is Thursday, March 25, 2021. We’re now on Day 4 of Dr. Oz’s guest hosting stint; his charity, Healthcorps, Inc., has received $72,201 from the first three of this week’s games. Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy! clue:

Literary Inspirations: The now-debunked theories of Luigi Galvani influenced the science in this 1818 novel

(correct response beneath the contestants)

The Jeopardy! community is mourning the loss of Brayden Smith, who passed away on February 5. The Brayden Smith Memorial Fund has been established, dedicated to furthering the educational aspirations of Southern Nevada students.

Today’s contestants:

Lisa O’Brien, a stay-at-home mom & community volunteer from Edina, Minnesota

Lisa O'Brien on Jeopardy!

Doug Small, a restaurant manager from Ypsilanti, Michigan

Doug Small on Jeopardy!

Amal Dorai, a product manager originally from Lexington, Massachusetts (2-day total: $43,200)

Amal Dorai on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Amal’s methodical play (he deliberately rereads the clue to ensure that he is answering the correct thing instead of making a ‘read the question’ error that trivia players are often prone to do) has been working very well for him, even though many viewers do prefer a different play style. It’s been very difficult recently for players to string together a run as of late; one theory for this is that it’s harder to keep momentum over a longer taping day (the tape days with the guest hosts have been a couple of hours longer due to both COVID restrictions and the fact that guest hosts are less familiar than Alex was with hosting the show.) If this holds true, then Lisa and Doug are both primed to take the champion’s title away from Amal.

PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to abide by physical distancing guidelines and when you are not able to do so, properly wear a mask. Ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Correct response: What is Frankenstein?

More information about Final Jeopardy: (The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2021 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Luigi Galvani’s theories, where he made a frog’s legs twitch after hooking the frog up to an electric charge, was believed at the time to be able to make creatures come alive. This proved to be the inspiration for Mary Shelley’s very famous novel Frankenstein, where the monster was brought to life with electricity after its creation by Dr. Frankenstein.

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • One major problem with Dr. Oz hosting Jeopardy: the IN A TEACUP $200 clue, which spoke of hibiscus tea and referring to studies. Because many viewers don’t trust Dr. Oz’s medical claims (based on past dubious claims he has made on his own show), Jeopardy!, by extension, does not come across as authoritative as it would have under a different presenter.
  • Thus far, $91,301 has been donated to Healthcorps, Inc.
