Happy Thursday! Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Colonial America) for Thursday, May 20, 2021 (Season 37, Game 169):

Milestones along the eastern end of the Mason-Dixon Line were marked on either side with the crests of these 2 men

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s contestants:

Ben Henri, a choral music director from Grosse Pointe, Michigan

Ben Henri on Jeopardy!

Kevin Walsh, a story analyst originally from Williamstown, New Jersey

Kevin Walsh on Jeopardy!

MacKenzie Jones, a STEM programming coordinator from Tulsa, Oklahoma

MacKenzie Jones on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Kevin’s got a tough draw today, against a strong Teachers Tournament winner in Ben and an 8-game champion in MacKenzie. We’ll know the first two Wild Card spots as well after this game – things are starting to get really interesting! The prediction model has MacKenzie as a slight favorite in this one.

Something that I realized yesterday: I took over sole operation of The Jeopardy! Fan in November 2015, and it definitely took me a few months to hit my stride when it came to writing for the site. But, it was Buzzy Cohen’s run in the spring of 2016 where I really thought the site came into its own; it was around that time where I started tracking statistics again as well. I have a lot to be thankful for when it comes to Buzzy, and I’m really happy that he’s getting to live out a dream and host Jeopardy! over these two weeks.

PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to. When wearing a mask, ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Correct response: Who are William Penn & Lord Baltimore (George or Cecil Calvert)?

More information about Final Jeopardy: (The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2021 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

The Mason-Dixon line was created to survey and mark the border between Maryland to the north (and east), whose land was granted to the Calverts, and what became Pennsylvania and Delaware. Pennsylvania was granted to William Penn; Penn was leased the land of the “Lower Counties of the Delaware” by King James II. While the Calverts had a competing claim to the area, the dispute was not resolved until nearly a century later when both sides agreed to the Mason-Dixon survey.
