Welcome to Tuesday, March 30, 2021, Day 7 of Dr. Oz’s hosting stint; thus far in his stint, $161,301 has been raised for his charity. Now, onto today’s proceedings; here’s today’s Final Jeopardy:

American History: While performing in Philadelphia, the future father of this man sent a letter threatening to slit Andrew Jackson’s throat

(correct response beneath the contestants)

The Jeopardy! community is mourning the loss of Brayden Smith, who passed away on February 5. The Brayden Smith Memorial Fund has been established, dedicated to furthering the educational aspirations of Southern Nevada students.

Today’s contestants:

Amanda Gaspary, a curriculum specialist from Lakeland, Florida

Jean Westcott, a book publishing professional from Woodbridge, Virginia

Bryce Hwang, a medical student from Santa Clara, California (1-day total: $28,400)

Bryce Hwang on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Bryce had a very strong performance yesterday, picking up 25 correct in the main game. On the other hand, he had 5 incorrect—a very high number for a champion. He’ll need to cut that number back to have a better chance of continuing his run as champion.

PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to abide by physical distancing guidelines and when you are not able to do so, properly wear a mask. Ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Correct response: Who is John Wilkes Booth?

More information about Final Jeopardy: (The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2021 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Junius Brutus Booth, the father of noted assassin John Wilkes Booth, wrote a letter to President Jackson in 1835 demanding the pardon of a pair of pirates, also threatening to kill Jackson in the letter. According to the Library of Congress, though, the elder Booth was prone to alcoholism-fueled outbursts and that this may have been a poor attempt at a joke.
