A residence that re-entered the news cycle in May 2023 when it was put up for sale, 620 Eddy Street in San Francisco served as the residence of famed detective author Dashiell Hammett, famous for works like The Maltese Falcon. Hammett tended to set his works, such as The Continental Op and The Maltese Falcon, in San Francisco itself, which should be the major clue pointing everyone towards the correct response today. (Note that Raymond Chandler’s best known work, The Big Sleep, as well as Erle Stanley Gardner’s Perry Mason books, were both set in Los Angeles.)

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • Watching this episode, I got the sense that Stephanie gave up on this Final Jeopardy clue way too quickly–at least judging by when she was writing things down—and I found that disappointing as a fan.
  • Today’s box score will be linked to when posted by the show.

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

Tristan: Standard cover bet over Will is $8,800. (Actual bet: $10,000)

Stephanie: Standard cover bet over Tristan is $9,601. (Actual bet: $5,000)

Will: I would bet between $2,001 and $8,199. (Actual bet: $9,399)
