Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Bodies of Water) for Tuesday, October 25, 2022 (Season 39, Game 32):

The Kattegat & Skagerrak Straits separate these 2 seas

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

We’re on to Day 7 of Jeopardy! Second Chance (presented by Moderna). Yesterday, Sadie Goldberger punched her ticket into Thursday and Friday’s finals. Today, Tom Philipose (who almost beat Ryan Long), Alicia O’Hare (who nearly defeated Yungsheng Wang), and Jack Weller (who lost in a tiebreaker to Brian Chang) get a shot at redemption. I think today’s match will be very close—it’s very difficult to pick a favorite!

On a more personal note, it is the time of year for the twice-yearly Gamers vs. MS 168-hour online fundraiser! 24 different Twitch streamers will be live between 8 AM Eastern on October 22 and 8 AM Eastern on October 29, raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Canada has one of the world’s highest rates of multiple sclerosis (MS), with an estimated 1 in every 385 Canadians living with the disease. I just completed my own part in the charity relay, and I’d like to thank everyone for their help in raising $262.96 for the MS Society of Canada! You can find more information about this fall’s relay at gamersvsms.ca.

PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they can, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Correct response: What are the North Sea and the Baltic Sea?

The Skagerrak and Kattegat Straits are found in northern Europe, connecting the North Sea to the Baltic Sea, along with the various Danish straits. I feel like today’s Final is going to be a difficult one, even though it is a major international shipping route. I might expect to see a bunch of incorrect responses in the Arctic.

Alicia pretended The Email inviting her back to Second Chance was a bad paper cut.
Tom was at a family celebration of a new nursing scholarship when he got invited back.

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • Pardon the spoiler for anyone who hasn’t seen Sunday’s Celebrity Jeopardy! yet, but anyone claiming on Sunday that Jeopardy! should not have accepted “dragon bridge” during that game looks incredibly silly in light of Jeopardy! accepting “The Decembrists” tonight. Just saying.

  • Today’s box score: October 25, 2022 Box Score.

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Jack $26,400 Alicia $13,000 Tom $10,000)

Tom: Bet between $3,001 and $3,999—that way, you’ll stay ahead of Alicia if she misses and bets to cover you. (Actual bet: $3,001)

Alicia: Standard cover bet over Tom is $7,001. (Actual bet: $13,000)

Jack: Bet between $0 and $399 and enjoy your trip to the final! (Actual bet: $100)
