On Jeopardy! yesterday, Deanna Bolio booked her ticket to Thursday’s and Friday’s final after her runaway victory over Elliott Goodman and Matt Walks. Tonight, we see Rob Kim, Morgan Halvorsen, and Elizabeth Devereaux. My preview this past weekend liked Elizabeth’s chances of doing well; she was the third player in Matt Amodio’s first game—and as I mentioned in that preview, the third player who played against two other very strong players has historically done quite well in Second Chance play.
Some bad news was announced yesterday for Jeopardy! fans—the NFL and ABC/ESPN announced yesterday that the entire season of Monday Night Football will be simulcast on the main network. With the pregame show starting at 7:30, this will be a major headache for many Jeopardy! fans on Mondays. Ugh! (I can’t help but think that the likely flagging ratings of Jeopardy!‘s opening week was at least a minor consideration for ABC here.)

Puerto Rico, an island in the Greater Antilles about 3,400 square miles in area, was colonized by Spain beginning in 1493 following the arrival of Christopher Columbus. Spain administered the colony for the next four centuries, which became U.S. territory following the Treaty of Paris in 1898. Puerto Ricans have had U.S. citizenship since 1917; however, residents of the territory are unable to vote for President or Vice President.

Andy’s Thoughts:
Friendly reminder that Jeopardy! clues are written such that the thing the show is looking for is referred to with “this”. On the game’s second Daily Double, the “this” was clear. Any confusion is not the fault of the show, and is wholly the fault of the viewer; I believe that any criticisms of the clue’s clarity are not valid. The clue was not confusing at all—it was very clear what the show wanted, as the clue opened “RFD, short for this…”
