Correct response: Who is Alfred Dreyfus?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

The Dreyfus Affair (and the related Émile Zola letter J’Accuse!) is one of Jeopardy!‘s favorite topics to bring up in Final Jeopardy (It seems to come up just under once a season!) During a bout of French antisemitism in the 1890s, Alfred Dreyfus was accused of providing military secrets to the Germans (although the actual guilty party was Major Ferdinand Walsin-Esterhazy.) He was found guilty of treason in a secret court-martial in 1894, stripped of his rank, and sent to life imprisonment on Devil’s Island (part of French Guiana). In order to force the evidence against Dreyfus to be made public, Zola elected to have himself accused of libel. Dreyfus eventually accepted a pardon but was not completely declared innocent by the French Army until the 1990s, even though a French civilian court set aside the treason judgment in 1906.

Since Alex Trebek’s diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer, many community members have been raising money. The Jeopardy! Fan Online Store is as well! All proceeds from any “Keep The Faith And We’ll Win” shirt sold will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. To date, over $440 has been raised.)

In order to redesign our merchandise area to serve you better in 2026, all merchandise sales have been temporarily taken offline. Look for a return in late 2026! All previous orders will still be supported.
