One of tonight’s challengers is another Canadian! Vancouver’s Tessa Matsuzaki enters the Alex Trebek Studio today to attempt to become Jeopardy! champion. L.A. high school math teacher Maggie Sharpe will do battle today from the middle lectern.

The 1773 Boston Tea Party is one of the most famous events in American history; upset that the British were trying to force British East India Company tea on the American colonies and implicitly accepting a tax on that tea, a resistance was formed and an entire shipment of tea was dumped into Boston Harbor by the protesters on December 16, 1773. This act raised tensions between Great Britain and the colonies and was a major precipitating event of the American Revolution.

The early part of this game belonged to Eric, who picked up 6 correct over the first 15 clues—including a True Daily Double. Unfortunately for Tessa, she got beaten in on the signalling device on a clue about British Columbia. At least we can credit Maggie for knowing her Canada! Coming out of the break, both Eric and Tessa played well, with Eric holding a small advantage after 30 clues.

For the 10th time this season in regular play, the Daily Doubles were uncovered on back-to-back clues! Today saw Eric find them both on clues 11 and 12, and saw his score go from $13,000 to a commanding $25,000! From there, Tessa played a very technically sound game, even taking the required wild guess on a $2,000 clue #30, which was her only chance of winning. Unfortunately, she wasn’t correct on Clue 30, which cemented Eric’s runaway. Scores going into Final were Eric at $30,600 to Tessa at $11,800 and Maggie at $3,600.
In Final, Eric and Tessa were correct (with Maggie probably overthinking the clue.) Eric added $5,000 to become a 3-day champion! He’ll go for win #4 tomorrow!
