What is Dartmouth?

Looking to find out who won Jeopardy! tonight? Today’s Jeopardy! results and will go up on this page late afternoon, with full stats early to late evening. They will be seen in the comments section at the bottom of this page.

Dartmouth in Devon, England, is named for the fact that it is located on the west bank of the Dart River. It has been of major strategic importance in England for centuries, especially in the Middle Ages, as a deepwater port. In North America, Dartmouth names the Nova Scotia location on the eastern shore of Halifax Harbour (prior to 1996, it was its own city, but was amalgamated into Halifax at that point), and, of course, the New Hampshire Ivy League university in Hanover.

  2. And that miss by Dennis costs him a wild-card. Now, he gets to be the alternate, which is never any fun, but them’s the breaks.

well, 2/3 of the semi finalists are ladies….. I might still be right for once with an all female final!

I happened to notice the contestants weren’t in alphabetical order by last name this time. Any idea why that might have been?

    • I have no idea. I noticed it as well but I don’t have an explanation.

      • Susannah Nichols | May 14, 2017 at 11:22 am |

It’s because my legal (married) name comes before McDonald in the alphabet, but I use my maiden name (Nichols) professionally and did so on the show as well.
