Warning: This page may contain spoilers for the April 14, 2025 game of Jeopardy! UK, especially for those of you watching delayed or on-demand. This page will be updated during each commercial break as the show airs.
Today’s contestants:
Andrew Fisher, a Ph.D. student from Sheffield![]() |
Wendy Hurp, a retired science publisher from Oxfordshire![]() |
Ben Jones, a hotel receptionist from Caerphilly (3-day total: £15,550)![]() |
Andy’s Pre-Game Thoughts:
Ben Jones enters a new week of UK Jeopardy! as a 3-day champion, winnings £15,550, becoming the sixth player in the UK revival to win at least three. (Dan Afshar, Michael Hutchinson, Keshava Guha, Abby Hallett, and Emma Laslett are the other five. Imagine not remembering players from Series 1—I scoff at the thought that people would forget about players.) Today, he hopes to win a fourth game against Oxfordshire’s Wendy Hurp and Sheffield’s Andrew Fisher. For those who are deep in the weeds of multiple mind sports—this is the Andrew Fisher who is really strong at quizzing, not the Andrew Fisher who is really strong at Scrabble. That being said, I am hoping to see a hotly-contested episode today filled with strong players.

The last few weeks have been NUTS for the UK version! First, Abby Hallett wins four games despite going 0-for-4 in Final Jeopardy in those games; then, Dan Afshar’s choice to go all-in despite being just a few hundred pounds behind Abby going into Final Jeopardy of her fifth game eventually leads to his becoming the first player in the history of Jeopardy UK to win more than 5 games; and now, Ben shows up, becomes the Nancy Zerg to Dan’s Ken Jennings, wins a pretty solid sum while doing so, and is now putting together a remarkable run of his own. Michael Hutchinson and Keshava Guha (both from Series 1) are the only two of the top 5 longest streakers to have not debuted in the last four weeks; Abby, Dan, and Ben have joined them in immediate succession. I’m very sad I can’t watch the show here; I’m missing out on some great television!
And speaking of Michael Hutchinson, with how well Ben has played over the last four days, the odds of Michael’s winnings record (£30,551) falling tomorrow are actually pretty decent… I can’t wait to see what happens then!
Now that I think about it, calling Ben the Emma Boettcher to Dan’s James Holzhauer might be slightly more accurate…
I’m sorry you aren’t able to see it too, MasterDoge. For me, who admittedly hasn’t seen much Jeopardy in over 30 years, it has been a great joy. It feels as though in the last week or so it has settled into a nice groove with a fairly relaxed feel and everyone seeming to enjoy the experience despite coming up against such great champions.
I know I say this a lot here but I really am impressed by the calibre of contestant that has been on the programme over the two series so far. Their range of knowledge has been so impressive. All three contestants today seemed to be excellent again, but Ben was outstanding on the buzzer. Kudos to Andrew too for his wagering, I’m sure he did the right thing.
I think Jeopardy! is proving attractive to the country’s top quizzers. Although we are well served by difficult TV quizzes here, most of the others offer little or no prize. It’s really nice to see our champions get rewarded for their knowledge (great total today by the way, Ben!)
I had no idea about today’s FJ!
I only knew that Agatha Christie did publish non-detective novels under a pseudonym, but not what the name was.
