Jeff Price on Jeopardy!

Adam Remsen, an attorney & theater producer from Memphis, Tennessee (11-day total: $278,806)

Adam Rensen on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

As we near the end of June, we’ve got just 4 weeks left of Jeopardy! play before our summer break this season. This week opens with Adam Remsen returning to the Alex Trebek Stage as an 11-day champion, and I suspect that he may well have some difficult competition today in challengers Jeff Price and Sarah Streicher. Jeff is known in high school quiz bowl circles as the coach of the Barrington High School quiz bowl team who has won a number of national championships over the past few years; I’d be shocked if his interview today didn’t talk about how one of his players was 6-time champion Liam Starnes.

Final Jeopardy! Category: 7-Letter Words

Final Jeopardy! Clue: This word for a specific type of knight is derived from the site upon which Rome was said to have been founded

In order to redesign our merchandise area to serve you better in 2026, all merchandise sales have been temporarily taken offline. Look for a return in late 2026! All previous orders will still be supported.

Correct response: What is a paladin?

More Information About Final Jeopardy!:

The word “paladin”, referring to the important knights in the court of Charlemagne in 8th century France (similar to the role that the Knights of the Round Table play in the world of King Arthur), is derived from the Latin “palatinus”, from the central Palatine Hill of Rome.

Were you paying attention to Jeopardy! YouTube Edition a few months back, most specifically Brennan Lee Mulligan’s in-game interview where they discussed Dungeons & Dragons—and how Brennan attempted to curry favor with Ken by calling him “a bold and sexy paladin”? Of course the etymology of “paladin” is going to show up in the main game! Also, this was an interesting piece of serendipity that I found this morning when doing some research into Barrington, Illinois: the Chicago suburb just southeast of Barrington is also named Palatine.

Today’s interviews:

Jeff taught and coached Liam Starnes.
Adam has a group chat with his first tape day cohort.

A number of incorrect responses kept the scores down; Adam still led through 30, though. On the opening board, Adam got 4 in expansions, and Sarah got 3 in high-altitude places and characters by author.

Adam picked up $15,800 in a 9-clue stretch to take a close game and make it a dominant runaway. When he found DD3, not liking the category, he bet just the minimum $5 and cruised to tun runaway from there. On the second board, Adam ran a category about people named Joy in entertainment and got 3 in body basics, college towns, and things of beauty.

Statistics after Double Jeopardy:

Adam 30 correct 6 incorrect
Sarah 11 correct 2 incorrect
Jeff 11 correct 4 incorrect
Total number of unplayed clues this season: 11 (0 today).

Both Adam and Jeff were correct in Final, with Adam adding a small amount to his total. He’ll go for win #13 tomorrow!

Sarah $8,600 – $1,000 = $7,600 (What is templar?)
Adam $27,395 + $214 = $27,609 (What is paladin?) (12-day total: $306,415)
