Correct response: Who is Maurice Sendak?
More information about Final Jeopardy:
When Sendak died in 2012, multiple newspaper obituaries made reference to Sendak having been dubbed “the Picasso of children’s books” by TIME Magazine. And this was prior to Where the Wild Things Are, Sendak’s most famous work, and the work that won Sendak the 1964 Caldecott Medal. Its somewhat grotesque depiction of monsters concerned parents on first publication, but it is still tops many lists of best children’s books.
Since Alex Trebek’s diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer, many community members have been raising money. The Jeopardy! Fan Online Store is as well! All proceeds from any “Keep The Faith And We’ll Win” shirt sold will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. To date, over $370 has been raised.)

Andy’s Thoughts:
- Had the SEAS category been taken in order, I think that Jason would have gotten that first Daily Double correct. However, because Jason played $600 (Black Sea) and $800 (Coral Sea) before going to $400, he seemed to think that there might be a “color” theme going on when there was not one. Thus, he got sidetracked and went “Red Sea” instead of the correct response (“Dead Sea”).
- That being said, the fact that Jason was able to easily recover from missing that True Daily Double should be evidence enough that the risks involved are small enough that most players should go True Daily Double at all times in the Jeopardy! round.
- While it was moot in this case, Corin should have limited her bet in Final Jeopardy to $5,800. Her best chances of winning come with bets in the $4,201 to $5,800 range (had Jason bet his minimum covering wager of $10,001, he would have fallen to $8,399 on an incorrect response).
