In the Old Testament, Jeremiah is a Hebrew prophet who is discontent with the message that he has to deliver, but he considers himself committed to his divine call. Meanwhile, he also felt the Hebrews were practicing false worship and social injustice, and he was constantly lambasting his people for their indiscretions. It has led to the term “jeremiad”, which is used to describe a lengthy complaint, usually one where the complainer decries the current state of society and morals. Which, frankly, sounds like a few people in the comment section of just about every single website in existence. (Those usually get removed from The Jeopardy! Fan.)
Having seen the clue, but not the match, I’m excited to see what this clue ends up doing in Final Jeopardy! today.

- Because scores earned tomorrow can be doubled in Final Jeopardy, James has an effective lead of $11,463 over Emma and $23,763 over Francois.
- Three tournaments have been won from a deficit greater than Emma’s current deficit over James; the 10th Anniversary Tournament (Frank Spangenberg was a pre-doubled $13,000 behind Tom Nosek, adjusted to $26,000), the February 2007 Teen Tournament (David Walter was $25,800 behind Ben Schenkel), and the July 2007 Teen Tournament (Meryl Federman was $25,000 behind Greg Peterson). The largest deficit overcome over Day 2 of a ToC final occurred in 1988 (Mark Lowenthal was a pre-doubled $8,000 behind Sandra Gore, adjusted to $16,000).
