Correct response: What is “O Canada”?

Oh, cool! A clue about the history of The Jeopardy! Fan‘s national anthem, “O Canada”! Its music was composed by Calixa Lavallée to Adolphe-Basile Routhier’s French-language poem.

Today, the French lyrics are unchanged from Routhier’s version; the English version, originally written by R. Stanley Weir in 1908, has been changed a few times over the years, with the most recent change coming in 2018.

Interestingly, “O Canada” didn’t officially become Canada’s national anthem until 1980. Prior to that, “God Save the King”/”God Save The Queen” was used in many contexts and is still Canada’s royal anthem.

Since Alex Trebek’s diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer, many community members have been raising money. The Jeopardy! Fan Online Store is as well! All proceeds from any “Keep The Faith And We’ll Win” shirt sold will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. To date, over $370 has been raised.)

• That being said, Jeopardy! would be a much more boring game if everybody bet using an identical strategy.
• This was the first game of Jason’s that wasn’t a runaway game since his 5th win (a game which also saw both trailing contestants overwager in Final Jeopardy, leading to a small win for Jason on a Triple Stumper Final Jeopardy)
