This game’s Jeopardy! Masters contestants:
Mattea Roach, a writer & podcaster from Toronto, Ontario, Canada (0 points)![]() |
Amy Schneider, a writer from Oakland, California (1 point)![]() |
Sam Buttrey, an associate professor at the Naval Postgraduate School from Pacific Grove, California (1 point)![]() |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Tonight’s first game features Mattea Roach, Amy Schneider, and Sam Buttrey. Amy and Sam both finished a strong second place on the event’s opening night—while I hesitate to call this a “must-win” game for any of these players, all three could certainly use the confidence boost that a win would provide. I’m expecting this to be an evenly-matched game that anyone is capable of winning if the categories break the right way for them.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they can, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Dang… I can’t even keep up with all the classics I should have read! It’s just not reasonable to expect me to read modern best-sellers as well😠😜
Current FJ streak: 1L
Is the 300 club going to be updated this week?
I never had any interest in seeing the movie let alone reading the book
To be clear, I am NOT saying that I think Andy got it wrong! Sam’s tale about his son’s wedding and going to the wreck of the Titanic was so convoluted, I was left not understanding if he missed his trip to the Titanic because of the timing of the wedding or he missed the wedding due to being on a trip to the Titanic or what, but I could have sworn it was something about missing one or the other rather than experiencing both at the same time.
