Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Tonight’s opening match is between James Holzhauer, Mattea Roach, and Matt Amodio, in a rematch of last year’s final. I’m anticipating this to be a good bounce-back game for James.

  1. This is the James I was fully expecting to see 🙂

Gotta feel for Matt, though, having what I believe to be the highest first-round score of any Master (last year or this year) and then having this happen. At least he got a point!

  2. Bill Vollmer | May 6, 2024 at 8:39 pm |

don’t know if Matt really “poked the bear” (James) this game. To me, James began to “hit his stride” late in the Jeopardy round, continued in Double Jeopardy, found, and, bet very agressively, as his style, and, was right on both, which gave him his unsurmountable lead.
As for the Final Jeopardy, I didn’t know who the “Big Four” were from WWI, so I had no chance to come up with the correct response.

Such a great game all around in my opinion. Nice to see both Matt and James thriving again.

  4. Like Bill, I didn’t know who the Big 4 were in 1919 and just said Kaiser Wilhelm as a guess.

Didn’t get to watch, as I am in Laughlin.

    • I was quite sure the Big 4 represented USA, Great Britain, France & Italy and I was pretty confident that the correct response would be the Prime Minister of France, but I had no idea what his name was.
