Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
I’m going to be doing my recaps a little bit differently for Pop Culture Jeopardy. Being that the regular recaps are often done to give quick information to people who have missed something in the game itself—a problem that does not manifest itself in a streaming situation where viewers can very easily rewind and find what they’ve missed—there will be information here for those who want to go more in-depth on the statistics.
The opening game of the tournament will be between teams named the Pop Queens, Oops! We Guessed It Again, and the Queen City Kidz. Cody on “Oops!” is a Jeopardy! alumnus from the 2017 Teachers Tournament. As we learn in the interviews as well, the Queen City Kidz are from Regina, Saskatchewan. It was a pleasant surprise to wake up and find that the series is available to viewers in Canada; this does mean that I should have no issues in terms of recapping.
The major differences between this and the regular game in terms of gameplay: We have teams of 3 competing, which also includes one “Triple Play” clue per round. It’s a clue with 3 responses, open to all teams. Whichever team rings in has an opportunity to respond with all three responses, one per player. However, an incorrect response (or no response) means a loss of money and a rebound opportunity.

In film, the Wilson brand is best known for its appearance as the volleyball in the 2000 film Cast Away (not, as Brain of Britain recently apparently accepted, basketball.)
Caitlin Clark signed with the brand in 2024 and will provide feedback to Wilson on its basketball gear.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- Obviously hindsight is 20-20, but my usual adage about Daily Doubles usually being easier than Final Jeopardy rings true again; a more aggressive bet on the last Daily Double—even if just to take third place out of victory contention in Final—would have been crucial for our Britney stans in the one.
- Today’s box score will be linked to when posted by the show.
Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:
(Scores: Oops! We Guessed It Again 23,000 Pop Queens 14,600 Queen City Kidz 9,400)
Queen City Kidz: You have to bet at least 7,400 to have any hope of victory. (Actual bet: 9,200)
Oops! We Guessed It Again: Standard cover bet over the Pop Queens is 6,201. (Actual bet: 6,201)
Pop Queens: Bet at least 4,201 to cover the Queen City Kidz. (Actual bet: 10,000)

Andy, isn’t Prime available from Amazon (Canada)?
about the Final Jeopardy, I don’t claim to know which sports celebrity is being paid to endorse what. But I thought I’d read about every endorsement deal Catlin (and, Angel Reese) had made. Unfortunlately, when the clue answer was revealed I initially focused on Catlin’s shoe contract, realized the clue called for OTHER sports gear, forgot all about “Wilson” from “Castaway.”
