Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Our second game of the day features The Quiztina Aguileras, The Challengers, and Trivia Tuesdays. Once again, as someone who spent over a decade hosting trivia nights in bars and retirement homes, I would like to say that there are probably somewhere around 100 teams worldwide every night who will use some form of Quiztina Aguilera as their team name. The team name is no longer original, and I feel as though David, Sam, and Josh could have done better with their team name choice.

The two songs, both titled just “Houdini”, were by Eminem and Dua Lipa. Harry Houdini the magician died on Halloween 1926, of peritonitis; the cause of that abdominal swelling between appendicitis and being punched in the abdomen have been debated in the century since the incident.

Jeopardy! Round:
(Categories: They Were We Are The World; Film Series; Secretly Shakespeare; Pop! Go The Gilmore Girls; Rhyme Time; Marry Me)
Trivia Tuesdays found the Daily Double very early, wagering just 300 points, to the disdain of both viewers at home and Colin openly in studio. The Challengers swept the Triple Play on Clue 10 for their only correct responses of the opening segment; Trivia Tuesdays led after 15, with scores of Trivia Tuesdays 4,100 The Challengers 1,800 The Quiztina Aguileras -1,000.
Statistics at the first break (15 clues):
Trivia Tuesdays 8 correct 0 incorrect
The Challengers 3 correct 1 incorrect

Trivia Tuesdays have a “Supper Club” where they will pair a chain restaurant with a movie.
The Challengers are huge Zendaya fans.
The Quiztina Aguileras met as part of a randomly assigned LGBTQ dodgeball team in West Hollywood.
Trivia Tuesdays picked up 4 more correct responses to continue to lead as The Quiztina Aguileras got themselves out of the hole on clue 29.

(Categories: The Show’s Opening Credits; A Little Bit Country; A Category About Nothing; Slap Shots; Corporate Celebs; The Song That Ends The Movie)
The endgame of this one became very interesting because the Triple Play came out on Clue 28—with a Daily Double still unseen. Because the last correct response gains control of the board, control moved over to the third place Quiztinas for giving the last correct response. They didn’t find the last Daily Double, though, as Trivia Tuesdays got control back and used it to cement a runaway.
Statistics after Double Jeopardy:
Trivia Tuesdays 25 correct 2 incorrect
The Challengers 13 correct 2 incorrect
The Quiztina Aguileras 9 correct 4 incorrect
Scores going into Final:
Trivia Tuesdays 19,700
The Challengers 7,600
The Quiztina Aguileras 3,400
Trivia Tuesdays finished this game as well as they could have, giving a correct response and getting the callback joke in with their Final Jeopardy wager. They’ve advanced to the quarterfinals.
Tonight’s results:
The Quiztina Aguileras 3,400 – 3,399 = 1 (Who is K.)
The Challengers 7,600 – 7,500 = 100 (Who is Elvis Presley)
Trivia Tuesdays 19,700 + 300 = 20,000 (Who is Houdini?) (Quarter-Finalist)

Andy’s Thoughts:
- I thought Colin was much too complimentary of Quiztina Aguileras as a team name; I’m guessing he’s never experienced it before.
- Today’s box score will be linked to when posted by the show.

I’m guessing these Quiztina Aguileras had probably never heard of the “other 99” (especially since this team wasn’t very good — i.e., on the assumption that really good teams keep more aware of what else is going on in the trivia-gaming world).
I got correct the first triple-stumper, “Who was Q for Quincy Jones?” and the FJ, “Who was Houdini?”. I “got” the FJ just based on the death date as I had never heard of the two songs.
Oddly enough, though I’d known about Houdini’s cause of death circumstances for decades, reading Andy’s write-up made me recall that in a TV show I saw recently [I’m pretty sure it was NBC’s ‘The Irrational’] they mentioned that fact (when a non-magician character nearly died in similar circumstances).
