Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Around The World) for Wednesday, April 9, 2025 (Season 41, Game 153):
An online article about this landmark said, “The stones themselves look like they are crying” & mentioned “tears of…pain, hope & joy”
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Andrew Hayes, a law student originally from Tupelo, Mississippi![]() |
Courtney Martin, a public defender originally from Cedarburg, Wisconsin![]() |
Mike Dawson, a technology manager from Portland, Oregon (3-day total: $57,000)![]() |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Mike Dawson of Portland has three wins under his belt and hopes to get win #4 today against a pair of legally inclined challengers: Wisconsin’s Courtney Martin (a public defender) and Mississippi’s Andrew Hayes (a law student). What makes this an intriguing matchup today is that if Mike lost today, he would pretty much be on the bubble for the Tournament of Champions; a fourth win would be crucial to move him off the projected cut line.
Also, tonight’s Celebrity Jeopardy! matchup, airing at 9:00 (8:00 Central) on ABC and CTV2, features Robin Thede, Natalie Morales, and Roy Wood Jr.; I think that is an intriguing matchup that could go in any direction.

The article describing Jerusalem’s Wailing Wall, or the Western Wall, from today’s clue can be found at Chabad.org. It is an ancient retaining wall of the Temple Mount of Jerusalem, and one of the holiest sites in Judaism.
I’d say that this is a relatively topical Final Jeopardy clue, being that we are entering Passover season. (This is also a reminder that a number of show alumni put together a Jeopardy!-style Haggadah supplement many years ago for the Passover Seder.)

Frustrated with myself because when I saw the answer, it became obvious. The only answer I could come up with in the time crunch was Crazy Horse and I knew that wasn’t a realistic answer given the category.
Were you influenced by the old anti-littering ad where the actual Native American has tears in his eyes. [I’m pretty sure the actor WAS Native, but even if not, by “actual”, I meant it was a person, not a stone statue.]
Got this one right away. Tears were a great clue.
I thought of Stonehenge…so wrong…
Don’t beat youself up too much. I zeroed in on stones, ignoring the part of the answer clue that said the stones themselves looked like they were crying, and, initiallyy said Stonehenge as well, then Easter Island, If I had paid attention to the stones themselves looked like they were crying, MAYBE I would have come up with the Wailing Wall as a response, But since I didn’t we’ll never know.
Not just ‘one of the holiest sites in Judaism’, it is the holiest site in Judaism. Never liked the name ‘wailing wall’, I only refer to it as ‘the western wall’.
Upon reading this clue, I thought this was a gimme and it would be a Triple Get. Stones crying tears of pain, hope and joy practically defines wailing. I didn’t see how it could be anything other than Wailing Wall. Never thought of any other response until I saw the responses and some of the other comments. I can see how people could come up with some alternatives but I didn’t think of any when I responded. Just goes to show that sometimes things aren’t as easy as they seem on first blush.
I would think that some might come up with New Hampshire’s Old Man of the Mountain (which is on their state quarter) since it fell off in 2003 due to erosion so is now just rubble, but I don’t think hope and joy would be mentioned about those stones.
What is the answer to the april 9, 2025 episode what is a 10 digit bank account called?
11-LETTER WORDS $400: If your bank account has 10 figures, you’re in the 3-comma club as this
What is a billionaire?
I immediately thought “What is the Wailing Wall?” and was only not 100% sure because there is a lot of stuff in the world that I don’t know about, thus it might not be a slam dunk, but it was what I stayed with.
One would not have to be Jewish to know this one, but but if one were not Jewish [and I am not], then the chances of not knowing of it would go up.
I wonder if ‘Western’ Wall would have been accepted.
I’m sure it would since that is what it is more properly called.
