Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
This week’s final Pop Culture Jeopardy matchup is between Brennith, Glazed and Confused, and the Tampa Tamales. I’d be very impressed if any team can match what happened in Episode 8. One thing to note is that at least one member of the Tampa Tamales has been online posting about his appearance. Back in the day, we’d call that “Slam’s Rule”—named after the poster on the old Sony boards who theorized that champions were more likely to post about their appearance in advance than those who did not win. We’ll see if that pans out.

When I was watching this game, what I thought I was seeing on the screen for Brennith’s “(What a1 a2)” was just “(What a?)” with the first try totally blacked out. I now realize that it was an “a2” instead of “a?” — but I was wondering why they went with an “a” instead of an “A”? If I was a contestant I would be worried about being disqualified for lack of clarity, especially with a short enough response that I did not have to worry about running out of time to write it. However, they may have spent too much time coming up with “A24” (and agreeing among themselves) and actually did write the “a” hurriedly and still only got down the “2” of an intended “24”.
I also thought the winning team’s screen looked too much like “A2U”! [But that’s my nature, as I am always very careful to fill in forms, write checks, etc. VERY legibly.]
For the record, as soon as the FJ was displayed/read I’d thought that the correct response was bound to be “A24”.
