Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Europe) for Friday, February 20, 2026 (Season 42, Game 120):

Thomas Mann’s “The Magic Mountain” is set in this town that in 1971 hosted the first what was then the European Management Symposium

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Andrew He, a stay-at-home dad from Concord, California (1 win)
Andrew He on Jeopardy!
Long Nguyen, a retired engineer from Las Vegas, Nevada (1 win)
Long Nguyen on Jeopardy!
Roger Craig, an applied scientist originally from Johnstown, Pennsylvania (0 wins)
Roger Craig on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Could today be the day that we crown our overall champion for the Jeopardy Invitational Tournament? Andrew He and Long Nguyen both are halfway there on a win apiece, while Roger Craig is still looking to get on the board. If Long or Andrew wins today, this tournament finishes today. If Roger wins, we see a winner-take-all Game 4 on Monday.

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

The Magic Mountain is Thomas Mann’s 1924 work in which its protagonist, Hans Castorp, visits his cousin Joachim Ziemssen, who is recovering from tuberculosis in the Swiss Alps, spending time at a sanatorium in Davos, Switzerland. In the 1970s, German engineer Klaus Schwab, looking to introduce European firms to American management practices, began the European Management Symposium in Davos, which became the World Economic Forum in 1987.

This ends up being an extremely recent Current Events Final Jeopardy clue; the 2026 edition of the World Economic Forum—which will likely be remembered in the future as the venue of Mark Carney’s special address—took place just a week before taping of this tournament. If this Final ends up deciding the tournament, I think it would be a very worthy Final to do so.

Game Recap:

Four clues into Double Jeopardy, it looked like Long Nguyen was in control; he’d just converted both of the first two Daily Doubles for the maximum possible amounts. However, Andrew He was about to find another gear. Gaining momentum after getting DD3 correct on clue #6, He seemed practically unstoppable for the remainder of the Double Jeopardy round, with the high point being a run of the “Loan Words” category on 5 consecutive clues. While Long picked up enough to make sure there was still something to play for entering Final Jeopardy, we knew going into Clue 61 today that the tournament would very likely be decided here; Roger Craig was out of score contention.

Final Jeopardy was decided in the best way possible, with one of our contenders correct and the other incorrect: your champion of the 2026 Jeopardy Invitational Tournament is Andrew He, putting an exclamation point on one of the best Jeopardy! performances in recent history with a correct response in Final Jeopardy, earning $150,000 and an invtation to the next Jeopardy! Masters; Long Nguyen and Roger Craig received $50,000 apiece.

Non-tournament play resumes on Monday!

Scores going into Final:

Andrew $31,600
Long $24,400
Roger $6,200

Tonight’s results:

Roger $6,200 – $6,200 = $0 (What Zurich Basel Baden?)
Long $24,400 – $8,000 = $16,400 (What is Innsbruck?)
Andrew $31,600 + $17,201 = $48,801 (What is Davos? #BringBackKatieNolan) (2 wins)

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • I feel obligated to point this out: Only the film is titled The Bridge On The River Kwai. The novel is titled The Bridge Over The River Kwai.
  • In hindsight, everything makes more sense. Because the show has seven weeks of reruns to fill this summer (thanks to Labor Day being on September 7 this year), having the JIT be 3 games shorter means that the show is able to fit in all of Champions Wildcard, the Tournament of Champions, and the JIT in its 7-week rerun schedule this summer.
  • Today’s J!6 clues can be found at the monthly archive.

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Andrew $31,600 Long $24,400 Roger $6,200)

Roger: You can’t win unless both Long and Andrew overbet. The margins are slim, though—might as well go all-in here and hope for a miracle. (Actual bet: $6,200)

Long: You’re between three-quarters and four-fifths of Andrew’s total—your best chance of winning comes if you bet between $7,201 and $10,000, hoping for a cover bet and incorrect response from Andrew. (Actual bet: $8,000)

Andrew: Standard cover bet is $17,201. That being said: with the scores how they are, if you don’t like the category and are reasonably sure that Long will make the small bet, a bet between $2,801 and $7,199 covers Long’s entire small bet range while still forcing him to be correct to pass you if you miss Final. (Actual bet: $17,201)
