Go, Daddy, dot com

Watch out, blogosphere – my dad has started one of his own. He posted for the first time today. Let’s show him some love!
Yesterday, Ryan Alley won his first episode in convincing fashion. Trebek described him as “dominant.” Now that I have a picture of Ryan to post, I’ll ask again who he reminds you of.

Allison Solomon
Ryan Alley
Eileen Dreyer

I swept The Smithsonian from A to Z. The category. Anybody else get this one on a guess?: “C: Nickname of this building, home to the Smithsonian Information Center.”

I didn’t ring in but I thought what Eileen did on this one in Fishy Words: “It’s the fish seen here, elsewhere in the animal world, it’s the sound made by a hog.”

The next clue was the Daily Double, and Eileen got it anyway!
Ryan 2400 (4 right)
Eileen 1000 (3 right and one wrong)
Allison 800 (3 right)
She wagered 1000 on this clue: “In this mid-air position, a diver will bend at the waist while keeping her legs together & straight.” Good for Eileen for guessing, even though it was silly. It was an instaget for me. Come to find out during her interview that her response of “jackknife” was acceptable! She answered 2 of the next 3 right before the first break, and the other was a triple-stumper.
Ryan 2400
Eileen 2600 (after her Daily Double was counted right.
Allison 800
I’d wondered what Eileen writes, so good for her again for telling us in her interview! Romance again! And hey, she’s a trauma nurse!!! I’m a new fan. I hope we can find her for a Hangout.
Ryan says he has a boyfriend!
I fell for the same thing Eileen did on this one in Let Me Be Perfectly Frank, but I realized what I did as the words were leaving my mouth: “You can see the preliminary sketches for the Panama Puente de Vida Museo on this architect’s website.” I even knew what the right response was at that point. Allison picked it up.
Then it was almost too much for me when Eileen got this one (like I did) in 1984: “This ‘doctor’ struck out 11 batters on September 7, giving him a MLB rookie record for a season.”
Again, we had 6 clues left when Mr. Trebek gave the less-than-a-minute warning. Two clues were left covered.
Ryan 3400 (4 right and 2 wrong)
Eileen 2800 (4 right and 2 wrong)
Allison 1600 (One right)
Allison found the first Daily Double of the next round in the brutal Birth of a Vice President. She must’ve liked the category, because she started the round with it.
Ryan 9400 (5 right)
Eileen 3600 (2 right and 2 wrong)
Allison 5200 (4 right)
She wagered on this clue: “November 9, 1918 in Baltimore, Maryland.” She got it. The next clue was a Daily Double too, in Capitonyms! This time she wagered 1600 but she said “again” like it’s what she wagered on the first one. This was the clue: “Having sharper flavor, or a Moroccan seaport on the Strait of Gibraltar.” She got it but almost didn’t because she didn’t phrase it in the form of a question at first. So she should’ve wagered more both times! Two Daily Doubles right and she wasn’t even in the lead.
Why did Ryan start skipping around the board now?
Do you need further proof that Eileen is cool? How about that she knew this one (like I did) in Lego Art?: “The creation seen here was made as part of this location’s 100th anniversary celebrations in 2011.”

We had 9 clues with a minute to go. There were 3 clues left covered, which wouldn’t have helped my Coryat anyway maybe because I haven’t read George Orwell’s 1984.
Ryan 10200 (4 right and one wrong)
Eileen 6400 (3 right and one wrong)
Allison 12600 (3 right)
The Final Jeopardy category was Monarchs of England. Oh, yuck. This was the clue: “The fifth king & the eighth king of this name share the distinction of both having been proclaimed king but never crowned.” I actually got this right and almost consider it brainless. Mr. Trebek goes, “Piece of cake for history buffs, I bet.” Eileen was right and added 6200! Ryan was right and added 10000. Bye, Eileen. 🙁 Allison was right and added 7600. It’s another tie, and Eileen wasn’t involved! Geez.
My Coryat today was 14600 (19400 without negs).
Last night I couldn’t wait to watch baseball. Tonight I’m gonna watch The Biggest Loser for the first time in weeks, and probably Celebrity Name Game.
