J! round categories:
WHAT’S MY LINE?
Erin seemed to enjoy the MUSIC category; and Will got off to a slow start! At the first break, the scores were:
Will is a senior legislative aide who has met many of Washington’s movers and shakers, as well as Stephen Colbert!
Erin is a curler! (I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before on the blog, but my varsity sport in high school was curling.)
Daniel’s story: a “how I met my wife”.
Will picked up on buzzer timing quite nicely after the break to jump into the lead! However, I’m not sure if it was because of a lot of video clues, or if the game just moved slowly, but we left a number of clues on the board, including the Daily Double! Boo! Scores at the game’s midway point:
DJ! round categories:
COTTON IS KING
THE BLUE & THE GRAY
GONE WITH THE WIND
Daniel got to the round’s first Daily Double, under 1865 AMERICA $1200! Scores:
Daniel bet $2,000. His clue: This agency was founded in 1865 to suppress counterfeit currency. His correct response put him at $4,000!
Will seemed to be ringing in just in front of Erin! (I’m not sure if Erin’s buzzer technique was using too much motion. A couple of shots showed a very shaky thumb from Erin! Ben Ingram had a good few words to say about the buzzer during our last Live Panel).
Erin found the last Daily Double, though, under — you guessed it — COTTON IS KING $1600! Scores:
Erin bet just $2,000. Her clue: Dorothy’s iconic blue & white checked pinafore in “The Wizard of Oz” was made from this cotton fabric. The look on her face when she realized she knew the answer and should have bet more, though, made me a little bit sad. Her correct response put her at $11,600.
Scores after the DJ! round:
FJ! category: FICTION
FJ! clue: A line in this short story is “Slowly, awkwardly trying out his feelers, which he now first learned to appreciate…”
Daniel 4800 + 4800 = 9600
Erin 12800 – 3401 = 9399
Will 16200 + 3400 = 19600
So Will is our champion and will be back tomorrow! See you then!
