Quick Recap & Final Jeopardy – January 8, 2016

Remember that our next episode of #JeopardyLivePanel is coming up on Sunday at 7:00 PM Eastern! Also, our site founder Jeanie Kenkel was on Sirius’ “The Catholic Guy” this week. If you missed the audio from it, you’ll get a chance to listen to it tomorrow!

In further show news, in case you’re in the Minneapolis area and missed the announcement, Jeopardy! moves one hour earlier, to 3:30 PM Central, on KARE beginning next Monday!

Finally, the Andy Awards nominations are open until January 17 – what are your favorites from 2015?

Final Jeopardy! category: SOCIOLOGY

Final Jeopardy! clue: Often applied to athletes, this 2-word term popularized by Robert K. Merton refers to an example we aspire to
What is a role model?
Ava 9000 + 9000 = 18000
Steve 9400 + 8601 = 18001
Adam 14600 + 4201 = 18801

This was a classic Final Jeopardy, in the sense that I think this clue would have played very well in any season of the show. To be honest, I miss these Finals sometimes.

And this tweet from Tom Kelso sums tonight up perfectly:

 1. What is the name of the famed Chinese fighter who defeated numerous sumo wrestlers? This was one of the clues in the double jeopardy round and I could not locate the answer on Google. Thanks.

 2. Has Adam been on before? He looks familiar.

 3. Will Jeanie be returning either to the blog or the live panel in the future? I know she had said a while ago that she stopped liking Jeopardy!, but someone who like it enough to blog about it for five years would probably have a change of heart at some point.

 4. How come only one winner if there was a two-way tie? (Jan 8 )
