In the introduction, Alex made reference to the then-recent rule change allowing “Sky’s the Limit!”:

If this were last year, Ken Jennings would have said good-bye to us after our last program. He would have won $156,000 after five victories, and he would stand in the sidelines and wait for the Tournament of Champions. But this year, we’ve allowed our champions to keep going as long as they keep winning. So, he’s trying for a sixth victory today. Kevin and Anne are here to stop him.

J! round catgories: AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMEN; MOVIE ROLES; MUSEUMS; A GREEN CATEGORY; 1969; GOING “SOFT” ON US, EH?

Ken went out in this game like gangbusters! He gave 21 correct responses in this round, including 4/5 in MOVIE ROLES, MUSEUMS, A GREEN CATEGORY, and GOING “SOFT” and 3/5 in 1969.

After 30, the scores were: Ken $12,600 Kevin $2,800 Anne $2,400

DJ! round categories: SCOTLAND; CIRQUE DU SOLEIL; THE ANCIENTS SPEAK; SHOW TIME; SOUL FOOD; THE “L” WORD

Ken was motoring along nicely, holding a $15,400-$4,400-$4,400 lead early in Double Jeopardy, when he did something that he had never done before: He missed a Daily Double. It was under SCOTLAND for $800 (In Scotland lochs are lakes & these are wide bays into which most of Scotland’s rivers flow. He said “forths” instead of “firths”) and it cost him $4,600. While it brought the two challengers back into the game, both Kevin and Ann took some negs onto the way into the house, and once Ken got the train rolling again, it was another runaway for the SLC software engineer. He did got 3/5 in CIRQUE DU SOLEIL and SHOW TIME, though!

Scores going into Final Jeopardy!:
Ken $18,800
Kevin $4,400
Anne $1,200

Final Jeopardy! category: FICTIONAL CHARACTERS

Final Jeopardy! clue: In a last-minute change in his manuscript, Charles Dickens renamed Little Fred this
