Welcome back to The Jeopardy! Fan for the start of Week 5. Here’s tonight’s Final Jeopardy for Monday, October 10, 2016:
Final Jeopardy! category: INAUGURAL ADDRESSES
Final Jeopardy! clue: One of his addresses used the term “security shield” about international affairs as well as “golden years”
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s contestants:
Pidge Meade, a technical writer and actress from Pacifica, California![]() |
Charlie Olsky, a film publicist from Brooklyn, New York![]() |
Nate Ross, a systems engineer from Los Angeles, California (1-day total: $19,300)![]() |
Who is Ronald Reagan?
This comes from Reagan’s second inaugural address.
Yale Law School’s Avalon project contains the full text.
Another great quote from this address of Reagan:
And there is another area where the Federal Government can play a part. As an older American, I remember a time when people of different race, creed, or ethnic origin in our land found hatred and prejudice installed in social custom and, yes, in law. There is no story more heartening in our history than the progress that we have made toward the “brotherhood of man” that God intended for us. Let us resolve there will be no turning back or hesitation on the road to an America rich in dignity and abundant with opportunity for all our citizens.
Let us resolve that we the people will build an American opportunity society in which all of us–white and black, rich and poor, young and old–will go forward together arm in arm. Again, let us remember that though our heritage is one of blood lines from every corner of the Earth, we are all Americans pledged to carry on this last, best hope of man on Earth.
I fear that the citizenry of the United States may at times forget such things, and revert to the times Reagan speaks of in the first quoted paragraph above. Resolve to do as his second paragraph. The United States of America will be better for it.
Remember, you can also now get the following t-shirts (and others!) from our new store!

Glad I found you. Time Warner service in our area went out right before final jeopardy clue.
Is there anyway to find the game online? I started playing on our Amazon Echo and got cut off I had 4 of the 6 questions done….
I’m sorry, I haven’t seen anyone who archives the old J!6 questions.
That said, you might have luck if you contact the show? I’m not sure.
Anyone remember what the answer was to one question – can’t find the Oct 10 episode online anywhere yet! It was in the 2nd round – the question was “The browser ploy with this Agatha Christie-esque name keeps users at a website by disabling the back button.” This one is driving me crazy – help!! – anyone!! Thanks!
Well, one shouldn’t be able to “find episodes online” to watch after the fact, as it were.
Often J! Archive takes a couple of days to get the clues up, though.
That said, the correct response to this clue was was “What is a mousetrap?”
