What is Austria?
Austria was one of the Great Powers of Europe, dating back to the days of the Habsburg Dynasty; the House of Habsburg, and its Habsburg-Lorraine main line, ruled Austria until the end of World War I. Following the war, the First Republic was created; the Anschluss saw Austria annexed by Nazi Germany. After World War II, Austria was occupied by the Allies and the Austrian State Treaty re-established Austria as a sovereign state in 1955. The Second Austrian Republic announced a declaration of neutrality in that year. Austria, per its current constitution, is permanently neutral.

Miscellany:
NBC did not air Final Jeopardy in our area on Jan. 13. Instead, NBC replayed the last 5 minutes of the Nightly News with Lester Holt. Then, at 7:30pm, NBC aired an episode of Jeopardy with 3 new contestants (instead of airing Wheel of Fortune which is normally in that time slot). Our area never saw the end of the Jan. 13 Jeopardy episode.
