I almost had The Triumphal March played at my wedding. 😃
I guess it’s another case of Friday burnout.
I did a quick check of the names of the 4-time-or-more champs on the current Jeopardy! ToC board, and of the 11 regular play names on the list (including Dave Leffler), all but two seem to have lost on Friday, according to the j-archive website. Note that Ryan Fenster “lost” twice on Friday, first in February (his fifth game of the week) and then in July when he returned (his fourth game of the week).
The exceptions were Rob Woman (Thursday) and Gilbert Collins (Wednesday). I’m not surprised that one’s physical (and mental) reflexes aren’t as sharp when you’re taping your fifth episode of the day. It makes you appreciate the few longer-lived champions of the show even more.
