It should be noted that Tacoma (or Tahoma), the Puyallup name for Mount Rainier (just southeast of the Seattle metro area), has multiple meanings, as per the Cascadia Department of Bioregion. Generally, all of those translations include “water,” including “mother of waters,” which is the translation most often seen online.

The volcano received its colonial name from George Vancouver, who named it after British Revolutionary War admiral Peter Rainier. The area’s indigenous population is looking to have it renamed back to Tacoma or Tahoma.

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Amy $17,700 Dan $10,200 Matt $4,000)

Amy: Standard cover bet over Dan is $2,701. (Actual bet: $2,800)

Dan: You have to bet at least $4,800 to have a chance at victory. It might then be worth limiting your bet to $6,199, to force Matt to be correct and make a bet to have a chance of passing you. (Actual bet: $10,199)

Matt: You can’t win unless Amy overbets. However, you can finish second if Dan chooses to go all in. I might suggest a bet of $1,401—this leaves you something if Dan goes big, but also passes him on his small-bet range. (Actual bet: $3,998)

5 Comments on "Today’s Final Jeopardy – Friday, April 26, 2024"

  1. Puyallup was all the clue I needed. Pays to be from the Pacific Northwest

  2. Anyone else get the wrong episode tonight? My DVR says it recorded a new episode tonight, but when I went to watch, it was the Ike, Ben and Jared semifinal from the TOC. Jeopardy airs for me at 7 EST and the NFL draft didn’t start until 8, so I know it didn’t have anything to do with that.

    • The NFL draft started at 7:00 tonight.

      • Thanks for your clarification. I went back and saw that “tonight’s” episode recorded at 3 AM. I always read your full write-up, but only skimmed it tonight to avoid spoilers. Missed your link to Matt Carberrys excel sheet. Thank you for not deleting my comment, and for everything you contribute to the Jeopardy! Community.
