Welcome to my weekend editorial! I’m calling it weekend because it’s publishing a few hours later than it usually would. (And it’s shorter, but that’s okay. I feel like staying generally positive about people this week, and I let this editorial simmer with exactly one item on it for longer than I wanted to.)
It’s The End Of May!
The past two years—with Jeopardy! Masters in amongst the other games this month—has had May been the show’s busiest month in terms of airing. I just want to say that while I do not intend for this to be seen as a complaint, as someone who covers this show daily and professionally, I am often feeling incredibly burnt out come June 1. Granted, the increased traffic does make up for it, but I definitely feel like I am in 31 days of “go mode”, having to recap 40+ games of the show over the course of a month.
And, I don’t think there’s anything that can be done about it, except for potentially taking a nice vacation over the summer holidays. Somewhere northerly—living in Newfoundland for two years has taken away any possible tolerance to heat that I had.
My friends over at Geeks Who Drink have introduced a daily trivia game—Thrice! Existing to make daily clever trivia content accessible to a wide audience, it's a daily challenge that tries to get you to the answer via three separate clues. It has a shareable score functionality to challenge your friends and new questions every day will give you a new daily social ritual. You can find it at thricegame.com.
