Weekend Jeopardy! Recap – February 7 & 8, 2026

Warning: This page contains spoilers for the February 7-8, 2026, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that today’s game is an encore presentation of the game that originally aired on April 29, 2025.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category 20th Century Figures) for February 7-8, 2026 (Season 41, Game 167):

After studying business in Chicago in the 1920s, this man obsessed with Sherlock Holmes was an investigator for a credit company

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Rahel Zubairi, a physicial from Scottsdale, Arizona
Rahel Zubairi on Jeopardy!
Ben Ganger, a data analyst from Goshen, Indiana
Ben Ganger on Jeopardy!
Erin Morin, a digital pre-press specialist from Aldie, Virginia (1-day total: $29,600)
Erin Morin on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Our weekend rerun for this weekend features Erin Morin’s title defense against Rahel Zubairi and Ben Ganger; Ben might be recognizable from the Tournament of Champions; this game actually demonstrates how Ben might have been relegated to Second Chance consideration instead of taking victory #1.

Also, my television guide goes far enough forward (17 days, in fact) to tell me that regular play does return to Jeopardy! screens by February 24th at the latest. (Though, it could return by February 20th at the earliest if the final for the Jeopardy Invitational Tournament goes just two games.

Meanwhile, while Jeopardy! Masters hasn’t been officially renewed, I do still think it will be; I would love to see it run over 3 weeks during August. It would certainly provide for excitement for Jeopardy! fans in a time where the show is normally in reruns (and certainly I know of a number of fans who have just saved Masters on their DVRs to watch during the summer anyway.)

Correct response: Who is Eliot Ness?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Eliot Ness was an American Prohibition agent best known for his efforts trying to put down Al Capone in Chicago; his life and career later served as the basis for the pop culture franchise The Untouchables. Ness’s efforts were eventually successful despite Capone eventually being found guilty on tax evasion charges (the parties in charge of Capone’s case decided that tax evasion would be the more difficult charge to get away from instead of the Prohibition laws).

As you’ll see in the recap, I do think my prediction in April saying that it would be easier for those who remember the Untouchables things from the 1980s proved to be true.

Game Recap:

Ben dominated the proceedings in this one, picking up 23 correct in the opening round and 34 correct in the game overall, but thanks to a surprisingly conservative Daily Double wager on a late second-row Daily Double, we still had a contest entering Final Jeopardy. Thankfully for Ben, Rahel in a distant second wasn’t able to come up with a correct response and Ben became Jeopardy! champion.

Next week’s rerun will feature Ben go for win #2 against Jordan Stefanski and Roni Ackner.

Scores going into Final:

Ben $25,900
Rahel $13,400
Erin $2,600

Tonight’s results:

Erin $2,600 – $2,000 = $600 (Who is Raymond Chandler?)
Rahel $13,400 – $11,601 = $1,799 (Whois Dashiell Hamett?)
Ben $25,900 – $901 = $24,999 (Who is Pinkerton?) (1-day total: $24,999)

Ben Ganger, today's Jeopardy! winner (for the February 7-8, 2026 game.)

Game Stats:

Ben $20,400 Coryat, 34 correct, 2 incorrect, 49.12% in first on buzzer (28/57), 4/5 on rebound attempts (on 6 rebound opportunities)

Erin $2,600 Coryat, 6 correct, 5 incorrect, 17.54% in first on buzzer (10/57), 0/1 on rebound attempts (on 3 rebound opportunities)
