Warning: This page contains spoilers for the March 11, 2026, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Military Installations) for Wednesday, March 11, 2026 (Season 42, Game 133):

Home to dry lake beds in the Mojave, it was once known as Muroc Field & later renamed for a test pilot who died in a crash

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Molly Hackett, a typewriter poet originally from Denver, Colorado
Molly Hackett on Jeopardy!
Chris Kearney, a high school social studies teacher from West Chester, Pennsylvania
Chris Kearney on Jeopardy!
James Denison, a college professor & museum curator originally from Alexandria, Virginia (3-day total: $90,799)
James Denison on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

James Denison is a 3-day champion on Jeopardy!, with winnings of over $90,000. With his winnings total, I believe he’s already over 90% to qualify for the Tournament of Champions, and regardless of what happens, he’ll be in Champions Wildcard at the very least. Will he get that coveted guaranteed spot in the Tournament of Champions by winning two more games? Certainly, Chris Kearney and Molly Hackett—your two challengers—will have something to say about that.

James’s Final Jeopardy wagering strategy has certainly been the subject of debate since the beginning of his run, with some pundits calling it a “calculated risk” and others “strategically foolish.” While I made my thoughts on the matter clear yesterday, I should reiterate: I believe that the amount of money hoped to gain—if things go perfectly, maybe an extra few thousand dollars—is not worth the risk of having your run end before reaching, say, 10 wins. The extra abilities to earn money from the show from the upper echelon of champions—even the bye into the semi-final of the Tournament of Champions increases your near-term potential winnings significantly—makes it worth sticking around for a long regular-play run on the show. Oftentimes, a champion has been saved by a trailing player making a sub-optimal bet in Final Jeopardy that will guarantee victory for the player leading, and James is currently deciding to risk that happening to him.

Correct response: What is Edwards Air Force Base?

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Known today as a landing site for the Space Shuttle and the location where Chuck Yeager’s flight in the Bell X-1 that first broke the sound barrier took place, Edwards Air Force Base was renamed in 1949 in honor of Glen Edwards, a test pilot who had perished in an accident in May 1948 while testing the Northrop YB-49. As the base was the hub of experimental flight research, it was decided to rename the base after someone who had given their life to the cause, and Edwards was chosen.

One interesting tidbit about the life of Glen Edwards: He was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta—his family didn’t move to the United States until he was a teenager. I just found it interesting that one of America’s major Air Force bases was named after an immigrant, that’s all.

Game Recap:

Is the “Commentator’s Curse” in effect here? James got out to a big lead, but after a couple of references from Ken to James not having gotten a Daily Double correct, James missed the first one of the game—and his run—to make things closer in this one. Molly found both Daily Doubles in Double Jeopardy, but took a handful of incorrect responses later in Double Jeopardy and fell to third. Things were still very much in the balance before James got the final three clues correct–all in Triple Rhyme Time—to get in his now-usual position entering Final Jeopardy.

It was a good thing as well that James had pulled out a lead entering Final Jeopardy, as it was a Triple Stumper, and Chris needed to be correct to have any chance of victory. As it was, James is now a 4-day champion despite another aggressive Final Jeopardy bet, but still not over the $100,000 mark thanks to that incorrect response and his betting. He’ll go for win #5 tomorrow!

Scores going into Final:

James $13,800
Chris $8,600
Molly $2,400

Tonight’s results:

Molly $2,400 – $101 = $2,299 (What is goose?)
Chris $8,600 – $3,799 = $4,801 (What is Yeager?)
James $13,800 – $5,199 = $8,601 (What is Yeager?) (4-day total: $99,400)

Andy’s Thoughts:

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: James $13,800 Chris $8,600 Molly $2,400)

James: Standard cover bet is $3,401. My thoughts the last few days have made it very clear how I feel about betting more than this. (Actual bet: $5,199)

Chris: You have to bet at least $1,800 to have any chance of winning. A bet here between $1,800 and $3,799 keeps Molly locked out. (Actual bet: $3,799)

Molly: You’d need an overbet from both James and Chris to have any chance. Bet whatever you like—but I’d probably consider somewhere between $1,000 and $2,398 as Chris’s three most likely bets that bring you back into contention are $5,201, $8,600, and $8,599—and this gives you the best chance of second place with all three of those bets. (Actual bet: $101)
