Today’s Final Jeopardy – Wednesday, April 29, 2026

Warning: This page contains spoilers for the April 29, 2026, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Historic Declarations) for Wednesday, April 29, 2026 (Season 42, Game 168):

The 1848 Seneca Falls Declaration added these 2 words to the Declaration of Independence line beginning, “We hold these truths…”

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Beth Orlansky, a retired public interest attorney from Jackson, Mississippi
Beth Orlansky on Jeopardy!
Ian Samson, a firefighter from Matthews, North Carolina
Ian Samson on Jeopardy!
Greg Shahade, a chess player from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2-day total: $54,601)
Greg Shahade on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

“Giant Killer” Greg Shahade backed up his victory over 31-game champion Jamie Ding with a second victory in yesterday’s game; today, he goes for win #3 against Ian Samson and Beth Orlansky.

In terms of what is at stake today for Greg: While his win over Jamie on Monday very likely clinched Greg’s spot in Champions Wildcard already, a third win today would be incredibly important for Greg’s Tournament of Champions chances. With there already being a 31-game champion and a 14-game champion in the lineup, the chances are high that 3 wins will be all that is required to qualify for the 34th Tournament of Champions in 2027.

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men and women are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

At the Seneca Falls Convention, the first American women’s rights convention in 1848, a Declaration of Sentiments was prepared and delivered by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and local Quakers in the area. That Declaration of Sentiments included a nearly exact rewording of the “We hold these truths…” section of the Declaration of Independence, with the words “and women” added to emphasize the belief that both men and women should be equal.

I have to say, knowing how some people on the Internet like to react to things, there are certainly some trolls—at least in the comments section on YouTube—who I’m sure will have no feelings whatsoever about this Final Jeopardy. (No, their “concerns” today will not be valid.)

Game Recap:

For the most part, Greg Shahade dominated proceedings today, making a very high number of attempts; unfortunately, his 9 incorrect responses included a $6,000 Daily Double miss and a $2,000 incorrect response rebounded by Ian, which was enough to make Final Jeopardy matter.

Final Jeopardy saw both Beth and Greg give correct responses as Greg becomes a 3-time champion. He’ll go for #4 tomorrow!

Scores going into Final:

Greg $16,000
Ian $10,000
Beth $4,200

Tonight’s results:

Beth $4,200 + $33 = $4,233 (What are “and women”?)
Ian $10,000 – $10,000 = $0 (What is self-evident?)
Greg $16,000 + $4,001 = $20,001 (What is all and women) (3-day total: $74,602)

Andy’s Thoughts:

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Greg $16,000 Ian $10,000 Beth $4,200)

Greg: Standard cover bet is $4,001. (Actual bet: $4,001)

Ian: Bet at least $2,000 to have any chance of victory. (Actual bet: $10,000)

Beth: You can’t win unless Greg makes a massive strategic blunder. Ian’s two most likely bets are “everything” and “$6,001”; thus, I’d limit my bet to less than $200 here and hope for an incorrect response from Ian. (Actual bet: $33)
