Today’s Final Jeopardy – Tuesday, July 28, 2026

Warning: This page contains spoilers for the July 28, 2026, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that today’s game is an encore presentation of the game that originally aired on January 6, 2026.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Typography) for Tuesday, July 28, 2026 (Season 42, Game 87):

Inspired by Port Authority bus terminal signage, it was adopted as a font by NYU & the Tribeca Film Festival

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Geoff Barnes, an analyst from Washington, D.C.
Geoff Barnes on Jeopardy!
Dave Bond, an art student from Rochester, New York
Dave Bond on Jeopardy!
Michelle Tsai, a tutor originally from Honolulu, Hawaii
Michelle Tsai on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Encore presentations continue with Game 2 of Champions Wildcard today, between Michelle Tsai, Dave Bond, and Geoff Barnes. Michelle advanced through Week 2 in Second Chance; both Dave and Geoff were multi-day champions.

One schedule change to next season was announced by ABC; Celebrity Jeopardy! has been moved to the winter instead of the fall. I certainly hope that the series is still going to be airing on Wednesdays, though. (That’s more of a selfish hope on my part.)

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Inspired by signage around the Port Authority bus terminal as well as other locations around New York City, the Gotham font was designed by Tobias Frere-Jones in 2000 with contributions from Jonathan Hoefler. In addition to the New York specific references given in the clue, intended to point both players and viewers to the name Gotham, the font is also famous for appearing in GQ magazine in the early 2000s, with its most famous use being the Barack Obama 2008 presidential campaign.

Much like the original airing back in January, I once again deliberately decided to put today’s “More Information” in Gotham font, in case anyone is more of a visual learner. (Interestingly, it took me quite a good 15 minutes this morning to remember what I did back in January to get that to work.)

Double Jeopardy! Round:

(Categories: I’mThe Problem; Second Letter “Q”; Diseases; Name, Myth & Model; Linguistics; So Long, Farewell, Just Kidding)

Michelle found both Daily Doubles in Double Jeopardy—presumably remembering that wild cards are at play here, she went conservative on them. That was a good thing, too, as she got them both incorrect and still led entering Final Jeopardy. Over the course of Double Jeopardy, Michelle went 3/5 in Second Letter Q, diseases, and band farewells, while Geoff went 4/5 in problems.

Statistics after Double Jeopardy:

Michelle 23 correct 4 incorrect
Dave 15 correct 1 incorrect
Geoff 12 correct 3 incorrect
Total number of unplayed clues this season: 8 (0 today).

Scores going into Final:

Michelle $16,000
Dave $11,800
Geoff $8,800

Final Jeopardy today was a Triple Stumper. Realizing again that wild cards were at play, both Dave and Michelle made conservative wagers and Michelle is an automatic semifinalist! Dave’s score might hold up, but it also might not. We shall see!

Tonight’s results:

Geoff $8,800 – $8,000 = $800 (What is Helvetica?)
Dave $11,800 – $1,800 = $10,000 (What is Arial? Go Bills!)
Michelle $16,000 – $1,602 = $14,398 (What is) (Semi-Finalist)
