Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Exercise) for Friday, May 29, 2026 (Season 42, Game 190):
A WWI internee created this form of exercise, adapting hospital beds as makeshift equipment to rehab injured soldiers
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Matt Patrick, a nonprofit program manager from Bloomfield, New Jersey
|
Lili Driggs, a banker from New York, New York
|
Chris D’Angelo, a content manager from Washington, D.C. (7-day total: $174,201)
|
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Chris D’Angelo picked up $50,000 in getting his seventh win yesterday; today, he goes for win #8 against Lili Driggs and Matt Patrick, who I’m sure is a very kind individual—but I refuse to cheer for him on the basis of his name alone. Sorry, Matt.
Meanwhile, in terms of ESPN Jeopardy!, one thing that I think won’t work about the show is that there are too many people in the sports media space who are trying to compete with each other to break news, to the fact that I am pretty sure various spoilers—even as far as people posting the air date of the first episode despite no official announcement—are going to be impossible to keep under wraps.

Correct response: What is Pilates?

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2026 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)
Pilates was created by a German man named Joseph Pilates, who developed the form of exercise in the early 20th century. When in a British internment camp in the Isle of Man during WWI, he used hospital beds with his fellow internees as an “apparatus” to aid stretching, strengthening, and other exercises. Although Pilates used the term “contrology”, the exercise system became eponymously named.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- Do I think there will be people tonight who claim that Matt should be returned to the show over that clue reversal? Yes. Do I think those claims will be parroted by various tabloid journalists (who I will not name because I don’t want my inbox filled with vitriol tonight) because of unplaced trust in random Reddit users? Yes. Are those claims justified? Absolutely 100% not. Had Matt gotten to play that Daily Double, he would have had 1,400, and could only have added 2,000 to his score. Give him that, and he has 7,800 entering Final Jeopardy. If you take away the 4,000 Chris got from that same Daily Double, Chris would have had 12,200 entering Final and would still have led, which Chris still would have turned into victory with his correct response in Final Jeopardy. Moreover, with how Final Jeopardy worked out, with Lili also correct, it did not even cost Matt second place.
