Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Poets) for Thursday, June 11, 2026 (Season 42, Game 199):
The concept of Westminster Abbey’s Poets’ Corner was born when Edmund Spenser expressly asked to be buried near him
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Matt Wheeler, an associate registrar & songwriter from Mount Joy, Pennsylvania
|
Danya Granado, a college administrator originally from Aurora, Colorado
|
Katelyn Mueller-McLean, an accessibility audio producer from San Francisco, California (1-day total: $3,400)
|
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
For the second game in a row on Jeopardy!, yesterday saw a win from third place with a relatively low winning total. Yesterday, that winner was San Francisco’s Katelyn Mueller-McLean; today, she faces off against Danya Granado, originally from Colorado and Matt Wheeler of Pennsylvania.
From what I have seen over the past few years and the direction in which I think the show is trending, I get the sense that results like yesterday’s, where there will be a few more incorrect responses and Triple Stumpers if the clues don’t quite hit the contestants as well, will become more commonplace.
I should also note that there is a small chance that the results today will be delayed, but it is most likely that they’ll be up by 12:38 PM.
If you watch Jeopardy! on a FOX affiliate (there are 12 throughout the United States), coverage of the World Cup is going to cause significant preemptions over the next month. Matt Carberry’s Google sheet has the details. Remember, the five most recent shows are always available beginning the next day on Hulu, Peacock, and Crave TV in Canada.
Also on the subject of preemptions, next Friday (June 19), NBC’s coverage of golf’s US Open is also going to cause schedule headaches. From an “avoiding preemptions” perspective, it is a pleasant surprise for me that Round 1 appears to be just on Peacock, but if I were an American golf fan I wouldn’t be thrilled.

Geoffrey Chaucer wasn’t buried at Westminster Abbey in honor of his writing, most notably The Canterbury Tales. He was buried there ex officio as Clerk of the King’s Works. However, nearly two centuries later, Edmund Spenser specifically requested to be buried near Chaucer, leading to the memorial section of the Abbey known today as Poets’ Corner. More recent memorials include Ted Hughes and C.S. Lewis.
Westminster Abbey’s website contains more information about the history of the memorials.

Game Recap:
Katelyn Mueller-McLean had her opportunities today, but three incorrect Daily Doubles from her allowed Matt Wheeler to take a runaway game into Final Jeopardy.
Scores going into Final:
Matt $11,400
Katelyn $4,600
Danya $2,200
Tonight’s results:
Danya $2,200 – $2,100 = $100 (Who is Shelley?)
Katelyn $4,600 – $0 = $4,600 (Who is Eliot?)
Matt $11,400 + $2,100 = $13,500 (Who is Chaucer?) (1-day total: $13,500)

Game Stats:
Matt $11,400 Coryat, 13 correct, 1 incorrect, 24.56% in first on buzzer (14/57), 0/0 on rebound attempts (on 5 rebound opportunities)
Katelyn $9,600 Coryat, 18 correct, 6 incorrect, 26.32% in first on buzzer (15/57), 3/6 on rebound attempts (on 6 rebound opportunities)
Danya $2,200 Coryat, 8 correct, 5 incorrect, 22.81% in first on buzzer (13/57), 0/0 on rebound attempts (on 1 rebound opportunity)
Combined Coryat Score: $23,200
Matt Wheeler, to win:
2 games: 43.628%
3: 19.034%
4: 8.304%
5: 3.623%
6: 1.581%
Avg. streak: 1.774 games.
Andy’s Thoughts:
- No wagering suggestions will be posted due to today’s game being a runaway for both first and second.
- This is a reminder that when the correct response is a song title, a correct lyric that contains the song title is also ruled correct. Thus “Oh, Danny Boy” and “Danny Boy” are considered to be equally correct by the show.
- Today’s J!6 clues can be found at the monthly archive.
