Today’s Final Jeopardy – Friday, June 12, 2026

Warning: This page contains spoilers for the June 12, 2026, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Tributes) for Friday, June 12, 2026 (Season 42, Game 200):

Big Ben has been purposely silenced in honor of a person on only 2 occasions: the funerals of these 2 non-royals, 48 years apart

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Adam Remsen, an attorney & theater producer from Memphis, Tennessee
Adam Remsen on Jeopardy!
Erin Schor, a legislative director from Lansing, Michigan
Erin Schor on Jeopardy!
Matt Wheeler, an associate registrar & songwriter from Mount Joy, Pennsylvania (1-day total: $13,500)
Matt Wheeler on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Matt Wheeler of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania took a runaway victory yesterday; today, he faces off against Erin Schor of Lansing and Adam Remsen. Erin’s appearance has been promoted in Michigan relatively highly, specifically because her husband is the current Lansing mayor, Andy Schor.

One thing I’ve been wondering about: has Jeopardy! has gotten harder? I figured that if the show had been getting harder overall recently, we might see the overall attempt numbers trending downwards. Thankfully, John Focht’s wonderful analytics site J!ometry (compiled using data from the box scores) already has this data compiled. And, the 5-game rolling average of attempts just tells me that there simply seems to be a natural ebb and flow about things, with no noticeable long-term trend. (Thankfully, the number of attempts being published came close enough to the start of Michael Davies’ run that it’s an excellent baseline for where the show’s writing level was at the start of the Davies Era). Thus, I have to conclude that sometimes you just get a set of contestants who don’t match as well with the material, and that’s a reasonable explanation for this week in my opinion.

If you watch Jeopardy! on a FOX affiliate (there are 12 throughout the United States), coverage of the World Cup is going to cause significant preemptions over the next month. Matt Carberry’s Google sheet has the details. Remember, the five most recent shows are always available beginning the next day on Hulu, Peacock, and Crave TV in Canada.

Correct response: Who are Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher?

Although there have been many technical reasons why Big Ben has been silent over the years, it has been purposely silenced in honor of just two non-royals, both former Prime Ministers: for Winston Churchill in 1965 and for Margaret Thatcher in 2013.

While I personally got this Final correct, I do want to say that I think the show might have been better to save this Final for a Tournament of Champions. I live in the British Commonwealth; these contestants do not. British content always plays harder with American audiences, and it would not surprise me to see this Final go 0-for-3 today.

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Adam $25,000 Matt $5,000 Erin $4,800)

Matt: In the battle for second, cover bet over Erin is $4,601. (Actual bet: $4,599)

Erin: In the battle for second, I would bet between $401 (in case Matt bets less than $200) and $4,399 (staying ahead of Matt if Matt chooses to cover and is incorrect.) (Actual bet: $4,000)

Adam: Bet no more than $14,999 and enjoy your victory. (Actual bet: $5,000)
