#SHC2012 Week 3 Day 6

Andy here! So, I made a mistake on Tuesday. I apparently set the date wrong and it posted a day later than I wanted it to! Thus, I’m posting the final day of Week 3 of the SHC today!

Once again, thanks to DadOfTwins for all of the work — apparently he’s trying to juggle the SHC and a move this year! Impressive!

TERRAIN

2: From the Spanish for table, this Arizona city is named for its broad, flat-topped elevation.

4: Cwm is a Welsh word referring to this type of terrain, a low spot between two hills.

6: In this type of terrain the permafrost can support lichen, moss, and some kinds of grass, but not trees.

8: Russian name for a large grassland region, especially one found in Central Asia.

10: A hole left behind by melting glacial ice, or a drum one might hit there while brewing tea.

BIBLICAL PLAGUES & PESTILENCES

3: The first time the Lord plagued this country was in Genesis 12, and was only a precursor for what was coming in Exodus.

6: In Numbers 14:12, God offers this man, “I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.”

9: New Testament book referenced in the following quote: “If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.”

12: In 2 Samuel 24, seventy thousand people died when this king chose three days of pestilence over seven years of famine and three months of enemy invasion.

15: This prophet who symbolically shaved his head announced in the book named for him that “a third shall die with pestilence, a third shall fall by the sword, and a third shall be scattered to the wind.”
