Congratulations!

Andy here with another recap!

Today’s contestants:

Will Carlos make it onto our ToC list?

J! round categories:
WOMEN IN HISTORY
ANIMATED MOVIES BY CHARACTER
MODERN DRUNKARD RULES
THE GAVE ME A MEDAL
DESERT LIFE
“SIX” PACK

After getting 5 of the first 9 clues correct, Carlos went to WOMEN IN HISTORY $400 and found the first Daily Double!

Scores were:
Carlos $2,600
Tahne $1,600
Cecilia $200

Carlos bet all $2,600. His clue: She declined burial in Westminster Abbey; her pallbearers were from army units whose wounded she had tended. His correct response put him at $5,200.

At the end of 15 clues, the scores were:
Carlos $4,400 (6 right, 1 wrong)
Tahne $2,400 (5 right)
Cecilia $2,000 (3 right)

Cecilia’s brother Jesse won 3 games on the show back in 2010! You can find his J! Archive profile here!

Coming out of the break, Carlos had the best buzzer luck! Scores at the end of 30:
Carlos $9,600 (15 right, 1 wrong)
Tahne $4,800 (7 right)
Cecilia $3,200 (5 right)

Meanwhile, Alex announced during the break that two audience members got engaged! In case you missed it, you can watch it here! Congratulations!

DJ! round categories:
U.S. PRESIDENTS
I GUESTED ON LAW & ORDER
GETTING FROM HERE TO THERE
MIDWESTERN WRITING
ALLITERATION
THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS

The first part of the round was absolutely dominated by Carlos; Cecilia and Tahne got in exactly three times. However, the first Daily Double (US PRESIDENTS $1600) went to Cecilia! Scores:

Carlos $18,800
Tahne $5,600
Cecilia $4,000

Cecilia bet $3,500. Her clue: In 1856 this West Pointer cast his only vote for President before his own election — for Buchanan. Cecilia went out of the category for Douglas and fell to $500.

The minute-to-go signal came with 8 clues left on the board. Carlos had a big lead and he took the savvy move of moving over into LAW & ORDER, the category less likely to have the final Daily Double! Tahne and Cecilia weren’t thinking enough to hunt it down in MIDWESTERN WRITING and the third Daily Double went unseen!

Scores going into Final:
Carlos $25,200 (15 right, 1 wrong)
Tahne $9,200 (4 right)
Cecilia $2,100 (3 right, 3 wrong)

FJ! category: 20TH CENTURY ARTS

FJ! clue: Pretending to be an exercise in a key textbook of this system that spread from Russia to Broadway & then to Hollywood

Cecilia 2100 – 100 = 2000
Tahne 9200 – 0 = 9200
Carlos 25200 – 27 = 25173

Carlos will go for win #4 tomorrow!
