Results will go up on the main page late afternoon, with full stats early evening. They will be seen in the comments section at the bottom of the main page.

The awards referred to in the clue:

The Grammy was in 1986 for Best Comedy Recording for the album “Whoopi Goldberg Original Broadway Show Record”.

The Oscar was for “Ghost”.

The Daytime Emmys were surprisingly not for “Hollywood Squares” (where she received many nominations), but for producing “Beyond Tara: The Extraordinary Life of Hattie McDaniel” (Outstanding Special Class Special) and for Outstanding Talk Show Host (for “The View”).

Some things to note on this final day of November:

With regards to the STATE FLAGS category today, do you remember J! alumna Alexandra Petri’s Washington Post article where she makes fun of all 50 state flags?

Also, in case you weren’t aware, former NBC head Grant Tinker (who passed away this week) had quite a role in the early history of Jeopardy!

  2. If not for Justin’s not-so-big win on game 2, he would most likely be ahead of Fred Vaughn in winnings. But it’s still nice to see another 4-day champion.

  3. I think it’s clear Justin wants to try and make it a challenge, but doesn’t show risk. He doesn’t seem agitated at all from the way he plays. I mean, talk about being sneaky under the radar. Like Frank Smith said, if it wasn’t for the haphazard wagers in the 2nd game of FJ!, Justin wouldn’t have made it this far as a 4-time champion.

True. Though that sort of a bet happens often enough that a leader is around in a two-thirds game is empirically 65% to win in Final Jeopardy (as opposed to the “just over 50%” that would happen if every trailer wagered rationally).

  4. Right now, even though Alex Maggio has won $1,000 more than Justin, Justin has won 1 game more than Alex, so I think Alex Maggio is out now. Sorry buddy, you had a great run.
