Why does the Teen Tournament start in the middle of the week, rather than on Monday like it should?
Because Nov. 8 is Election Day, Nov. 24 is Thanksgiving, and Jeopardy is often pre-empted on those days, this scheduling prevents Jeopardy from having one of its higher-rated sweeps events pre-empted (which would affect what it could charge for advertising).
That makes sense.
